Baltimore Cops Canvass Neighborhoods for Carryout Slaying Information

Video: Relatives of 52-year-old Freddie Jones Jr. spoke about the murder victim.

Baltimore City police detectives searched neighborhoods along Greenmount Avenue Wednesday seeking information about three men responsible for the robbery and murder of a 52-year-old man on Monday night.

Freddie Jones Jr. was  while picking up food at Yau Bros Chinese Carryout, located at 2901 Greenmount Ave. Three men wearing masks approached Jones who resisted the robbery and was shot, Det. Jeremy Silbert said.

The three men ran from the carryout on foot so police were seeking information in the Waverly, Better Waverly and Harwood communities.

Police will also be releasing surveillance video from the carryout's cameras on Wednesday.

Jones is the most recent person to be shot in the carryout. In April 2010, 72-year-old Charles Bowman was shot and killed in the carryout, according to The Baltimore Sun.

Councilwoman Mary Pat Clarke, D-District 14, said she was considering asking the owners of the carryout to close until a solution can be found for the violence that's been occurring at the store.

"We need to do something about this location. It's been the unanimous response of neighbors," Clarke said.
