Baltimore Near Bottom of Christian Cities List
A survey showed that Charm City has one of the lowest rates of residents that identify as Christian.
Baltimore ranks toward the bottom of a survey that lists the most and least Christian cities in America.
Charm City ranked number 38 on a list of 52 cities based on the percentage of population that consider themselves adherents to the religion, according to The Huffington Post. The Baltimore-Towson metro area reportedly has 39,507 Christian adherents for every 100,00 residents.
The rankings are based on the study "2010 U.S. Religious Census: Religious Congregations & Membership Study" released by the Association of Statisticians of American Religious Bodies.
According to the study, Salt Lake City, UT, Birmingham, AL and Oklahoma City, OK are the three most Christian cities in America.
Portland, OR, Tampa, FL and Seattle, WA were listed at the least Christian cities in America.

Does lack of religion have anything to do with high crime? I believe religion does teach moral values especially "thou shall not kill." Maybe if the churches in Baltimore City and Baltimore County started meaningful outreach programs for low income kids and young adults, you might see a decrease in crime across all areas.

Baltimore is near the top for the highest crime city.It is on par with New Mogadishu(Detroit),Sudan(Oakland) & Darfur (St.Louis).The tourist areas may be nice but those are the only places that make those cities any revenue.

So atheists are all thieves and murderers? The fallacy that christians and the religious are more morally upstanding is a very common statement among ..... the religious. As an Atheist, you won't be surprised, that I find the religious to be more morally questionable. Atheists do not "sin" so that they can ask for forgiveness later, they do not do the right thing because they'll burn in hell or an invisible father is looking over their shoulders 24/7. They do the right thing because..... it is morally right to treat others in the way that one wants to be treated.
As for crime and prison populations, even though it's hard to tell what the percentages are, the prison populations is overwhelmingly religious AND Christian.
"So what percentage of the prison population are atheists? We still don’t know for sure. But it’s less than 11%. Probably a lot less. It’s hard to get accurate information on the subject…"

I don't think anyone is saying atheists are all theives and murderers. That statement is no more correct then to say the prison population is overwhemingly religious and Christian. My guess is that you have the same criticism for Jews and Muslims as well and lumped them in the group of the "religious"
The fact that you are an atheist points to a God, for you can only have an opinion and reason for His non-existance based a concept or belief that He does exist. Much like light and darkness and good and evil. You have an understanding of what is dark based on you understanding of what is light and have a concept of evil, because of the knowledge and understanding of what is good. Darkness and evil don't exist in it of themselves, but they are the absense of light and goodness.
The big question for you is who or what determines your moral acumen and ascent? Why is it "morally right to treat others in the way that one wants to be treated" the right thing to do, and who said so? If doing the right thing is merely determined by what individuals deem it to be, then theiving and murderer, et al would be okay based on what those perpetrators believe and they would need any forgiveness nor would/should feel any remorse.

Um, did anyone on here stop and think that the reason we may have a smaller percentage of those who self-identify as Christians may be because the Baltimore metro area has one of the highest percentages of Jewish people in the county? Why is it that we automatically think that if people are Christian that they must be atheist?

Ed,
Good point. I don't know if anyone giving the survey took that into consideration.
