Bill to Extend Adult Enterainment Venue Hours Withdrawn

Del. Shawn Z. Tarrant asked for the bill he sponsored to be withdrawn.

A controversial bill—which was sponsored by a state lawmaker who represents North Baltimore—to allow four adult entertainment establishments in Baltimore to serve food for an extra hour has been withdrawn.

Del. Shawn Z. Tarrant, who represents parts of the Charles Village, Hampden and Roland Park neighborhoods, sent a letter to the chairman of the Economic Matters Committee asking for the bill to be withdrawn, according to the City Paper.

But the same version of the bill in the Senate, which is sponsored by Sen. Joan Carter Conway, has not been withdrawn. Conway represents neighborhoods along the York Road Corridor in North Baltimore.

During a Baltimore City in February, Tarrant defended the legislation and said these adult entertainment venues provided a place for fellowship.

"It is time to bond with your boys," Tarrant said during the hearing.

The bill would require that no drinks could be served or nudity after 2 a.m., but would allow food to be served until 3 a.m.
