Bryn Mawr Tops St. Paul’s School for Girls, 14-10

Mawrtians never trailed in hard-fought lacrosse game.

Erica Matz scored six goals and had an assist to lead Bryn Mawr to a 14-10 IAAM A conference victory over the St. Paul’s School for Girls, at Bryn Mawr on Thursday.  Kassandra Bowling added three goals for the Mawrtians.

The home team took a 2-0 lead, and opened the margin to five at 7-2 when Rachel Park scored with 7:32 left to play in the first half. The Gators then scored three unanswered goals to narrow the margin to 7-5 with 1:48 left. The Mawrtians had the final word in the half when Morgan Rubin took a feed from Matz and scooped the ball into the Gator net as time expired, to give Bryn Mawr an 8-5 lead.

The first 10-plus minutes of the second half were back and forth. Three times, St. Paul’s narrowed the margin to two, the last at 12-10 with 9:34 left to play.  But Bryn Mawr pulled away from that point forward, with Matz netting two of her four second half goals—the last with 3:33 left to play—to close out the scoring.

Bryn Mawr goalie Molly Wolf snuffed St. Paul’s last-ditch attempt at a comeback with a point-blank save with 1:46 left to play. She finished with seven saves.

Other scorers for the Mawrtians were Kaliegh Noon, Kate Snouffer and Caroline Turco, while Sam McGee and Rubin each had an assist.

The win improves Bryn Mawr’s record to 2-0 in conference play, 3-0 overall.
