Burglar Nabs Laptops from Delegates Office

Every once in a while a criminal will remind us that not even our politicians can avoid falling vicitim to crime.

According to a police report, the offices of the 43rd District Delegates, located in the 3200 block of Barclay Street, were broken into between 5 p.m., Sept. 11 and 8:50 a.m., Sept. 12.

The report, which lists the Maryland House of Delegates at the complainant, lists two laptops as the items stolen from the offices.

The burglar apparently entered the offices by opening a side window and then left the premises through a rear door.

The crime lab was called to investigate the scene.

It is unclear from the report who the laptops belonged to, or whether or not they were state property.  Dels. Maggie McIntosh, Curt Anderson and Mary Washington use the offices.

The delegates aren’t the only elected officials to fall victim to a property crime: 

• Councilwoman Sharon Green Middleton’s home was burglarized earlier this summer.
• A man was also arrested for trying to break into a car that belonged to Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake and her husband.
