Crash Spoils Bike Heist

The thief was nearly able to get away with a bike stolen from a yard in Hampden.

Before you steal a bike, maybe you should make sure you can ride one.

According to police, at 4 p.m. on Satruday, a thief tried to steal a bike from a yard in the 3400 block of Chestnut Avenue in Hampden.

Initially things were going smoothly for the thief as he was able to ride the bike to the 600 block of W. 33rd Street, but that’s when things went south in a hurry.

The thief then crashed the bike, and was caught and detained by the bike’s owner. Police were called and the thief was arrested at the scene of the wipe out.
