Kentucky Derby Winner's Trainer Confident
The 137th Preakness Stakes is set to run on Saturday at Pimlico Race Course.
Doug O'Neil, trainer of Kentucky Derby winner I'll Have Another, said the horse could be the next Triple Crown winner.
O'Neil told members of the media at Pimlico on Wednesday that he liked I'll Have Another's chances of being the first horse to win the Kentucky Derby, Preakness Stakes and Bellmont Stakes since Affirmed in 1978, according to a news release from the Maryland Jockey Club.
"He looks fantastic; great energy," O’Neill said in the release. "He’s maintained his beautiful, long stride. We’re just very happy with each day that goes by."
The early favorite for the Preakness is Bodemeister, who finished second in the derby, at 2 to 1, and I'll Have Another is listed at 5 to 2, according to SBNation.
