Local Blogger Alleges Councilwoman Living Outside of City

Adam Meister says documents show that Councilwoman Belinda Conaway lives in Randallstown.

Adam Meister, a local blogger at www.examiner.com, has published an article alleging that Councilwoman Belinda Conaway, D-District 7, doesn't live in Baltimore.

In the article Meister links to a property deed that he contends proves Conaway lives at an address in Randallstown in Baltimore County. Attached to this article is a copy of the deed produced by Meister.

Following Monday night's Baltimore City Council meeting, Conaway told Patch that the allegations are not true. She insisted that she is a city resident. She said her residence is public information and that her neighbors see her children and dog there every day.

"Talk to some of the people that help me out of my driveway," Conaway said.

According to state campaign finance records, Conaway on her reports for Friends of Belinda K. Conaway lists her address as 3210 Liberty Heights Ave. On the finance reports for the The Four Bears Slate, the campaign contribution war chest put together by her father Frank Conaway Sr., clerk of the circuit court, that also supports her brother Del. Frank Conaway Jr., D-District 40, both men also list that address.

In 2007 Meister ran for council in the Democratic primary election in District 11 and lost to Councilman Bill Cole. However, under the mayor's proposed redistricting plan Meister, a Reservoir Hill resident, would now be placed in Conaway's district.

It used to be we expected these types of stories out of the city, but I have to say, the entire state is painting itself a different shade of gray.
