St. Anthony's graduate Adam Pomper, a freshman lacrosse player for the 2012 national champion Loyola Greyhounds, died Tuesday in Huntington.
"The Loyola University Maryland community is mourning the loss of Adam Pomper, a member of the Class of 2015, who passed away June 12, 2012," said school officials in a press release Tuesday.
A native of Huntington, Pomper was a student-athlete on the men’s lacrosse team and a communication major.
A viewing will take place for Pomper on Friday from 2-4 p.m. and from 7-9 p.m. at M.A. Connell Funeral Home, located at 934 New York Ave. in Huntington Station.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 9:30 a.m. at the Church of St. Patrick, 400 Main St. in Huntington, according to the school.
A police spokesman for the Second Precinct said the death was "non-criminal."
According to The Baltimore Sun, Pomper, an attackman for the Greyhounds, died near his parents’ home.
Pomper, a 2011 St. Anthony's graduate, was a member of the 2011 CHSAA championship team.
St. Anthony's teammates were stunned by the loss.
"Adam was a great friend, and always knew how to put a smile on your face whenever something was wrong," said Charlie Raffa, a lacrosse teammate at St. Anthony's who completed his freshman year at rival Maryland. "He comes from a great family with a lot of athletic talent, which he was able to uphold at Loyola by beating us in the championship.
"After sitting down with all of those who loved and miss him this morning at my friend A.J.'s house, it is hard to put it into reality that he's gone. He'll be missed by so many and will rest in peace as a national champion, great friend, and even better person."

Poi, it's AP/Patch style that you write the day of the week something happened if it happened less than a week ago.

Please tell me what he died from? Could it have been from a long standing concussion from playing lacrosse?

Vivian, I just emailed the editor at Huntington Patch about a COD. But at this point I doubt the corner has been able to fully review the autopsy results to determine what killed Mr. Pomper.

Adam was a good friend in high school, it was an honor to know him personally. There are details of cod but at the moment, the cause of death will not be publicly announced. Please respect the pomper family in this time of tragedy and keep them in your thoughts.
