Lt. Gov. Brown Making Announcement in Waverly

Lt. Gov. Anthony Brown is expected to officially announce his intent to run for governor.

Lt. Gov. Anthony Brown is expected to officially announce he is running for governor in Waverly. 

Brown and Gov. Martin O’Malley are scheduled to appear at 2 p.m., Friday, in front of Waverly Middle School, 3400 Ellersilie Ave., according to Brown’s website.

"I can’t wait to hit the road to speak with Marylanders just like you, that’s why all of these family-friendly events are free and open to the public," Brown said in the announcement.

It has been widely anticipated that Brown would run for governor, and O’Malley had made it clear that he will support his lieutenant governor’s candidacy.

Brown, whose campaign had $1.64 million on hand at the start of the year, according to campaign finance reports, could face a crowded Democratic primary field.

Maryland Attorney General Doug Gansler, Howard County Executive Ken Ulman, Montgomery County Del. Heather Mizuer, and Rep. Dutch Ruppersberger are all said to be considering running for governor.
