Man Arrested for Hampden Cab Robbery

Police say a 27-year-old man robbed a cab in the 3300 block of Keswick Road early Friday morning.

Branden Barnes, 27, was arrested and charged with a robbery in Hampden early Friday morning.

According to a press release, police were called at 3:30 a.m. to the 3300 block of Keswick Road for the report of a robbery.

Police arrived and found a man with lacerations on his hand and neck. The man told police he was operating a taxi when his passenger pulled out a knife and announced a robbery, according to a press release.

The cab driver and Barnes allegedly struggled before he was able to run off with an unknown amount of money.

Barnes was spotted by the citywide robbery unit and arrested and charged with robbery, assault and theft.

He is currently being held in the Central Booking and Intake Facility.
