Owner of Rottweiler Involved in Market Attack Identified

Police said Omar McBee was issued a civil citation for leaving a dangerous animal unattended.

Police have identified the owner of the Rottweiler that attacked a woman near the 32nd Street Famers’ Market on Saturday.

Omar McBee, of the 600 block of McKewin Avenue, and he was issued a civil citation for leaving a dangerous animal unattended, and animal control issued a citation for the dog being off its leash, according to police.

Sgt. Anthony Smith said animal control released the dog back into McBee's custody after it was determined the dog had all its required shots.

The dog was tied to a parking meter at 9:55 a.m. in the 3200 block of Barclay Street, so McBee could go shopping at the market, Smith said.

A woman and her friend were walking in the block and saw the dog lunging, eventually it broke free and bit the woman on her left hip and left hand, according to Smith.

The injured woman was for treatment.
