Police Report Officer Involved Shooting

The shooting occurred in the early morning hours on Sunday.

(UPDATED) 10:41 a.m.—A Baltimore police officer shot a man after getting into a struggle early Sunday morning.

A Northern District officer was on patrol at 2 a.m. Sunday in the 5400 bock of York Road when he noticed a crowd gathered outside a carry out establishment, according to an email from Sgt. Anthony Smith, a police spokesman.

The officer got out of his car and attempted to disperse the crowd when he and one of the men in the crowd became involved in a struggle. During the fight the officer shot the man.

Homicide detectives are investigating the incident, which is standard procedure in a police involved shooting.

The officer was not injured in the incident. There's no information regarding the condition of the man who was shot.
