Poll: Is the Local Economy Improving?
Patch wants to know how our readers are feeling about the local economy.
There have been some signs that the local economy is starting to improve.
Businesses such as The Food Market, Blue Sage Cafe and Artifact Coffee have all recently opened.
The Mt. Vernon Mill mixed use develoment is underway, while the long dormant redevelopment at the Rotunda has recently showed new life and a new apartment complex is being proposed for the 3400 block of Roland Avenue.
But the unemployment rate for Baltimore City has so far averaged 10.2 percent for the year, according to the Maryland Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation. That's compared to 10.5 percent for 2011, 11.9 percent in 2010 and 10.8 in 2009. In 2008, the year the economy collapsed, the unemployment rate for the city was 6.6 percent.

Apparently, Patch doesn't want to know what the readers are thinking, because the poll is already closed and the results show 0 votes cast. I can only assume the results were not to the editor's liking, and it was deleted. In fact, I'll be shocked if this comment shows up. It seems Patch has gone the way of mainstream media and wants to shape public opinion instead of reporting the news impartially. I mourn the death of responsible journalism in our country.

Dan, I simply made a mistake when I was putting the pole together on Sunday evening. And being that I don't vote in the polls I wasn't aware anything was wrong until you posted your comment. The problem should be fixed now.
