Poll: Urban Residents Favor Increased Planning
An American Planning Association Poll shows urban residents and Democrats are the strongest supporters of community planning.
Most city dwelling Americans feel more community planning is needed, according to a June 14 poll from the American Planning Association
Poll results show that 79 percent of all Americans support increased community planning, but the strongest support comes from urban residents with 73 percent favoring. By comparison, 65 percent of suburban residents and 59 percent of rural residents approved.
The poll also indicated that 88 percent of Democrats, 77 percent of Republicans and 81 percent of Independents favor community planning.
Although Baltimore is also in the process of its own zoning code rewrite, Transform Baltimore (not to be confused with the school funding initiative of the same name), the process has not been as controversial in the city.
