Greatest Olympian wins $100,000 in poker tournament.
Updated (11:34 p.m.)—The greatest Olympic champion in history is $100,000 richer today from a win outside the pool, according to one celebrity gossip website.
TMZ reported Sunday that Michael Phelps won a cash poker tournament at Caesar's Palace in Las Vegas. The report includes photos of Phelps at a poker table reportedly taken in Las Vegas.
Phelps reportedly spent some of the winnings at an area nightclub.
But in a message on his Twitter account, Phelps cast doubt on the report.

Last month, The National Enquirer reported that friends of the swimmer expressed concern over the his interest in high-stakes card games.

I think I'd be concerned as a friend or family member. He could be a compulsive gambler and eventually loose everything and what does he have left as an older adult? What ways will he able to earn a living?

He's not the sharpest tool in the shed, those casinos will have him fleeced in no time.

Let's hope that he has good handlers and advisors and that he listens to them. Otherwise, in a few years we will be reading about how he is now divorced from his wife (who, as of the writing of this email hs does not currently have) who took him to the cleaners and has 50% of his current fortune, and the fact that he is in the process of selling him home and his gold medals because he lost everything in the casinos and is now bankrupt. This has happened to bigger and better athletes than a guy who swims. Don't believe me? Look at what happened to Johnny Unitas...and his downfall was caused by being too nice a guy and making bad investments rather than gambling everything away.
