You Tell Us: Should Deputy Mayor Parthemos Live in the City?

Patch wants our readers to give their opinion about high-ranking city officials living outside the city.

Kaliope Parthemos, Baltimore’s deputy mayor of economic and neighborhood development, apparently lives in Baltimore County.

Her address came to the attention of city residents after The Baltimore Sun reported Parthemos filed a complaint with county police that her car had been vandalized and listed a county residence as her home address.

The city charter does not require Parthemos to live in the city.

According to a news release from Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake’s office issued last year, Parthemos was promoted to the position of deputy mayor in May of 2010 and previously served as the assistant deputy mayor of economic development and as then Council President Rawlings-Blakes chief-of-staff overseeing community outreach, constituent services, business and economic development, and the Board of Estimates.

“Deputy Mayor Parthemos will be working closely with businesses and neighborhoods to make Baltimore’s economy and communities stronger,” Rawlings-Blake said in the news release.
