Although residents can sometimes seem cynical about our communities, we usually take pride in where we live, and have deeply ingrained opinions as to why our home is better than the neighborhood across the street.

what will forever be known as THE TUX, a lil honey scented, kickass armpit nook of remington... Is the absolute ultimate neighborhood of baltimore in terms of social life and friendly faces and fun block parties every weekend. Stone hill s the best neighborhood for more historic, nostalgic architecture, woodsmokey nights and gorgeous (but still humble) gardens and dog walking and homely neighbors.

Jo, While Stone Hills homely neighbors are probably very nice people, unspoiled by the vanity that so many display in our modern metrosexual society, to refer to them as such is a value judgement that some may challenge. I road through Stone Hills the other day and saw too quite attractive area residents who do not fit that description at all. :-)

Remington is the best neighborhood because it is a true microcosm of all of Baltimore. It has the good, the bad, all socioeconomic classes, types of land use, industries, races, events, etc. If you want to see all of Baltimore in 1 neighborhood you should take a trip to Remington.

I would ordinarily submit the once-dynamic, multi-cultural neighborhood surrounding Belvedere Square as North Baltimore's Best, as at one time it was. The 500 households that comprised the neighborhood district were well represented by the Belvedere Improvement Association (BIA), a once vigilant bulwark organization with a 50 year history that served as a vital, nerve-center resident network, and powerful advocate for its member households.
Alas, the BIA has now gone defunct and ceded its crucial role to the considerably less effective, York Road Partnership, (YRP), an umbrella group which serves as Councilman Bill Henry's North Baltimore political organization.
It's a *dirty shame* that the once vital and alert BIA was allowed to slip into somnolent obscurity at such an auspicious turning point in the evolution of the Belvedere Square commercial district. :-(
