A Season of Giving

Once again, Baltimoreans can roll up their sleeves and brighten the lives of those less fortunate during JVC’s Community Mitzvah Day on December 25. This program of THE ASSOCIATED: Jewish Community Federation of Baltimore is a wonderful way for individuals to help out their community.

At the Weinberg Park Heights JCC, families can put together winter care packages which will be distributed to individuals in homeless shelters in Baltimore City and County. They can visit clients with special needs at the Jewish Community Service’s Assisted Living Communities and schmooze with these residents at a pizza and Karaoke party.  There are a number of other projects including delivering packages for Meals on Wheels and serving meals at the Weinberg Park Assisted Living community.

Even those who are away for the proverbial winter break can participate by donating items in advance, such as a case of water or water bottles that JVC will put in the care packages. Knitters and crocheters can take up JVC’s challenge to knit 1,500 hats and scarves this year to put in the winter care packages.

“You can even donate a gift card to help offset the cost of some projects,” notes Dayna Leder, JVC Program Associate.
