Coming to Port Discovery Children’s Museum this February - The Art of Sesame Street: From Pictures to Pages Opens February 22

Baltimore – (January 27, 2014 ) – Port Discovery Children’s Museum has released its schedule of special events and programs for February 2014. Highlights include Healthy First Saturday on February 1, Chinese New Year on February 8 and the opening of new visiting art exhibit The Art of Sesame Street: From Pictures to Pages on February 22.

Museum Hours  

Tuesday through Friday:

9:30 am - 4:30 pm

President’s Day- Feb 17: 9:30 – 5 pm

Special Events:

Healthy First Saturday: February 1

·        Kick off the month with healthy fun for the entire family! Cook and Tell with McCormick, meet furry friends from FIDOS for Freedom and learn all about healthy living with UMBC!

 

Family Fun Day: February 2

·        Exercise your imagination with magician storyteller David London! Then get moving with Mother Goose on the Loose, an early literacy program that features singing, movement, and finger plays. Jingle Jangle Music Time is also available today and teaches young children basic rhythm. Next, come to Kamishibai story time that features the ancient Japanese art of Paper Theater.

 

Wonderful Wednesdays

·        From November through April, every Wednesday at Port Discovery is Wonderful! Enjoy fun, educational activities like Pop Up Science (science demonstration), Circle Time (interactive story time), Mother Goose on the Loose (musical early literacy program) and Jingle Jangle Music Time (interactive music experience)!

 

Thrifty Tuesdays and Thursdays

·        Enjoy a discount admission of $8 from 1 pm - 4:30 pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays through April 10. Harbor Park Garage offers $7 Roof Top only parking on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 12:30 pm - 5 pm, through April 10. Please pick up a follow up validation at the Museum box office.

Chinese New Year Celebration: February 8

·        Help us celebrate the year of the Horse at our annual Chinese New Year celebration. Enjoy performances, food sampling with P.F. Chang’s, calligraphy and chopstick training, and much more!

 

 

 

Target $2 Family Fun Night: February 21

·        Join us on the third Friday of each month! General admission is only two dollars per person from 4 pm – 8 pm at the door.

 

 

Visiting Exhibit-  The Art of Sesame Street: From Pictures to Pages

Generations of children know and love Cookie Monster, Elmo, Big Bird, Grover, Oscar, Zoe, and Ernie and Bert. For over 40 years, these and other Sesame Street television characters have also come to life in books, in the stories you were read to as a child or are sharing with your family today. The art exhibit, The Art of Sesame Street: From Pictures to Pages, explores the history of the popular children’s educational television show Sesame Street, and will be on display at Port Discovery Children’s Museum from February 22 to September 28, 2014.

Family Fun Fridays: February 1, 8, 15, 22 and 29

·        Pop Up Science, Circle Time, Exploration Station, Tot Trails (for children ages birth through three years), Mother Goose on the Loose, and Jingle Jangle Music Time are all options to make this Friday fantastic.

 

Circle Time

Weekdays: 11:30 am

Saturdays: 11 am & 12 pm

Sundays: 1 pm & 2 pm

         

·        Want to get your tots moving? Join us for Circle Time, an interactive story time that features singing, dancing, and finger plays.

 

Family Fun Day on Sundays: February 2, February 9, February 16 and February 23

·        Visit our world full of discovery and participate in World Rhythm Drum Circus, Mother Goose on the Loose, Jingle Jangle Music Time, and Kamishibai.
