Baby Girl Danziger Is Sinai's First Born in 2013

The 9-pound 11-ounce Chaya Tzipora Danziger, a resident of Upper Park Heights, was born at 1:43 a.m. Tuesday.

An Upper Park Heights couple's baby girl was the first to be born in 2013 at the BirthPlace at Sinai Hospital in Baltimore.

It was midnight Tuesday—the beginning of the new year—when Elisheva and Kalman Danziger of the Greenspring area near Pikesville got to the registration desk.

And by 1:43 a.m., Chaya Tzipora Danziger was born, weighing 9 pounds, 11 ounces. "She was coming fast," Elisheva said.

They named their daughter after Elisheva's great grandmother—Chaya Tzipora Halon—who hailed from Israel and later New York City, Elisheva said.

Chaya, who was born two weeks overdue, is the couple's second child. "I'm happy to have her out," Eliseva said. One-year-old Boruch Danziger is their firstborn, born in December 2011.

Elisheva, from Southfield MI, is a medical coder for United Healthcare in Elkridge. Kalman, raised in Baltimore, is studying for his certified public accountant exam.

They are members of the Kol Torah congregation in Upper Park Heights.

Both hail from large families. Kalman is the youngest of six children, and Elisheva is the eldest of five.

Baby Chaya is the 23rd grandchild for Kalman's parents, Harvey and Cheryl Danziger of Cross Country in Baltimore; and she's the second grandchild for Elisheva's parents, David and Chani Snow of Southfield.

"We love her very much," Kalman said of Chaya.

He added commentary about her being born on New Year's Day. "We missed the tax deadline for 2011," the soon-to-be accountant quipped.
