Baltimore Sun: Cafe HON Owner Granted Restraining Order

Denise Whiting accused a 25-year-old Severn man of harassment and "stalkerlike behavior."

Denise Whiting, the owner of Café HON and creator of HONfest, has been granted a restraining order against a 25-year-old Severn man, according to an article in The Baltimore Sun.

Judge Joan Bossman Gordan issued an order barring Steven Akers from Whiting’s Hampden businesses or contacting her, according to the newspaper.

Akers has been involved in organizing protests targeting Whiting since her trademark of the "Hon" colloquialism became fodder for public debate.

"It doesn't matter [how many people show up]. We're here. We're letting her [Whiting] know we won't go away," during a protest outside Café HON in January.

Whiting, in court documents, accused Akers of acting like a stalker, handing out  “hate” fliers and cyber bullying, the newspaper article said.
