Hopkins Spring Fair This Weekend

The Johns Hopkins University campus in Charles Village will host live music, crafts and games all for the low, low price of free.

The sudden change in weather should leave no doubt in your mind that winter is behind us; but, just in case you needed one last reason to dispel those winter doldrums, the Johns Hopkins University spring fair is coming up this weekend.

Here's what you'll need to know if you go.

The fair runs all weekend, April 12-14; hours are 10 a.m.-8 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Sunday, according to a news release from the University.

Admission to the fair is free, but on-campus parking at the South and San Martin garages is not. Everything you need to know about parking can be found on the JHU website.

The festival will feature a food court with more than 30 vendors from around the region, as well as a huge arts & crafts section and tons of games and activites for kids.

For those of legal drinking age, a beer garden at the festival will feature brews from Miller Lite to Flying Dog Pale Ale. The festival's beer garden closes an hour before the festival each day, and alcohol will stop being served a half hour earlier than that.

Music is a huge part of the yearly festival and this year Los Angeles-based indie rockers Grouplove will headline; they take the stage at the Ralph S. O'Connor Recreation Center Friday night. Tickets are available here.

A full schedule of local and regional acts playing the festival for free can be found on the festival website.

Any other questions you might have can probably be answered in the Guidebook app for the 2013 Spring fair.
