Project to Improve Pedestrian Safety on Philadelphia Road: SHA

The Maryland State Highway Administration said it plans to add markings, sidewalks and more.

The State Highway Administration is planning to make some adjustments to Philadelphia Road/MD Route 7 to keep pedestrians safer.

An informational meeting Thursday night will provide more details on the upcoming intersection safety and pedestrian improvements project.

The roadwork will include the following, according to the State Highway Administration:
  • Resurfacing Route 7 from east of Ridge Road to Rossville Boulevard
  • Applying new pavement markings extending the left turn lane on westbound MD 7 at Rossville Boulevard
  • Adding a two-way center turn lane east of Ridge Road.
  • Constructing sidewalks along both sides of Route 7 from Rossville Boulevard to Ridge Road that are in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act
Drivers may experience temporary lane closures during construction, scheduled to begin this summer. Some adjacent properties may be temporarily impacted as well, officials said.

The State Highway Administration will hold a public meeting on the project from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, May 29, at the Rosedale branch of the Baltimore County Public Library, 6105 Kenwood Avenue.
