Roland Park Ciclovia Postponed

The event is being delayed because of permitting issues with Baltimore City.

The Roland Park Ciclovia, an event promoting exercise and socialization, originally scheduled for Sunday, has been postponed.

Roland Park resident Mike McQuestion, one of the organizers, said the reason for the postponement was a delay in receiving the needed permits due to a backlog caused by the city hosting the Baltimore Grand Prix and flooding from Hurricane Irene.

Ciclovia's organizers hope to reschedule the event for some day in  October.

Previously, the event has involved closing Roland Avenue between Northern Parkway and Cold Spring Lane to motor vehicles so residents could walk, run and bike back and forth on the road.

The last ciclovia was held in May.

For this fall's event, organizers hoped to extend the road closure to the Roland Water Tower along University Parkway.
