Walk Score Ranks Pedestrian Friendly Neighborhoods

Website lists two North Baltimore communities among its most walker friendly.

According to the website Walk Score, which rates the “walkability” of cities and their neighborhoods, North Baltimore has two of the top 10 most walker friendly communities in the city.

The wesbsite’s rankings list Charles Village at nine and Hampden at 10 on its rankings of Baltimore neighborhoods.

Other North Baltimore neighborhoods on the list include Wyman Park, Barclay and Harwood, all in the top 20 neighborhoods for walking.

Mount Washington was the worst ranked North Baltimore community. Walk Score placed the community at 247 out of 258 neighborhoods that were ranked.

Baltimore overall was rated as the 14th most walking friendly city according to a study on the website.

The website scores communities on a scale from zero to 100. Scores from zero to 24 result in a low ranking because all errands require a car.  Scores from 90 to 100 mean daily errands in a neighborhood do not require a car.
