Authentic Italian Deli Opens in Hampden

Luigi's Italian Deli of Hampden serves up the sandwiches on the Avenue.

It's usually a good sign for an eatery on its opening day when famed local chef Spike Gjerde stops by to grab a bite to eat.

Gjerde was one of many residents who stopped by for a sandwich at Luigi's Italian Deli of Hampden on Thursday.

The authentic Italian deli, located at 846 W. 36th St., took over the space formerly occupied by Lovely Yarns, which moved to a new location at 3610 Falls Road.
