Baltimore City Paper Up for Sale

Owner Times-Shamrock is looking to sell its five alternative weeklies, according to a report.

The owner of Baltimore City Paper is putting the alternative weekly up for sale.

Baltimore Business Journal reports Times-Shamrock Communications is looking for owners for its five alternative weeklies, which include papers in Detroit, Orlando and San Antonio. Times-Shamrock has owned the City Paper since 1987.

In a statement to the Business Journal, Times-Shamrock CEO Scott Lynett said the company is looking to "offer City Paper for sale to someone who could take it to the next level of growth."

In July, publisher Jennifer Marsh resigned from the paper, The Baltimore Sun reported, just shy of two years after she took the role.

In other newspaper news, USA Today reported last week that billionaires Charles and David Koch had lost interest in buying the Tribune Co.'s newspapers, a portfolio that includes The Baltimore Sun.
