Reality Show to Rescue Cafe Hon?

'Kitchen Nightmares' to film at Cafe Hon next week.

UPDATE (6:54 p.m.)—Cafe Hon, whose owner Denise Whiting created controversy last year when it came to light she trademarked the colloquialism "Hon," will be the subject of the Fox reality show 'Kitchen Nightmares,' Denise Whiting, the restaurant's owner has confirmed.

“We’re very pleased to participate with Kitchen Nightmares and Chef Ramsay,” Whiting said in a news release. “However, due to our contractual obligations with the show, I’m unable to lend any additional perspective until after the program airs.”

Whiting's trademark of the word from Baltimore area residents (some than others).

Eventually controversy over the trademark died down. But the presence of the reality show, which features celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay, could raise eyebrows, because the show usually focuses on saving struggling establishments.

Whiting, who also founded the famous HONFest, does have a reputation in the Hampden neighborhood for donating services and money to help festivals and charities.

The restaurant held a Tuesday night to benefit Habitat for Humanity of the Chesapeake.
