AHC Greater Baltimore Awarded Grant from Weinberg Foundation

Baltimore, Md. (May 6, 2014)---AHC Greater Baltimore, Inc., a developer of affordable housing communities in the greater Baltimore region, has been awarded a two-year $80,000 grant from the Harry and Jeannette Weinberg Foundation's Maryland Small Grants program.

According to Allison Pendell Jones, assistant director of resident services, the grant will be used to support the AHC Greater Baltimore's financial literacy and asset building program that helps to build financial stability for low-income families, seniors and persons with disabilities.

Elements of the program include budgeting and saving, repairing credit, finding employment, preventing eviction, bill paying and providing referrals to workforce partners.

"The grant will allow us to deepen the one-on-one coaching work with 165 people currently enrolled in the program. This coaching is where the real and substantive changes for the residents can be made," said Pendell Jones.
