The rally will address the state’s plan to build a youth jail in spite of research that identifies alternative methods that are more effective and less costly. The Safe and Sound Campaign, following months of meetings and conversations with the Office of Governor Martin O’Malley, is advocating the reallocation of nearly $100 million in funding for the jail be redirected toward a broader, more comprehensive plan that promotes youth success by investing in alternatives to detention, like apprenticeships, jobs and recreational opportunities.
For more information about the "Reallocate to Recreate Rally," the proposed youth jail, the alternative projects, or how to win raffle prizes please contact Safe and Sound at 410-625-7976.
