Recent Crime is Unnerving But We All Have to Get the Nerve to Help Stop It

The recent early morning robbery and shooting at 26th and St. Paul Street is unnerving, and scary.  It's unnerving because it occurred just steps away from the very spot where Stephen Pitcairn was murdered and, in an area of Baltimore City that boasts a heavy concentration of police and security enforcement.  It's scary because it occurred at a time when many Charles Village residents are out and about - walking their dog, picking up the newspaper, running or heading to the 33rd Street Y.  We hear of this crime and think "it could gave happened to me."

The reality is that despite all of the very best efforts of the Northern District, the BCPD generally, JHU Security, Union Memorial Security, UB Security, the CVCBD, the CVCA and the various community watch programs there just are not enough resources for each of us to have our own personl security team.  We have to look out for each other and we have to look out for ourselves.
