Treats, No Tricks at the 43rd District Office!

Delegate Maggie McIntosh and Delegate Mary Washington Open the 43rd District Office for a First Ever Fun Halloween Celebration

My daughter, Nia, granddaughter, Sylena, and I began our Halloween 2011 celebration by stopping at the 43rd District Office on our way to the St. Frances Academy Halloween Party.  Located at the intersection of Barclay and 32nd Streets, the office was decorated for the night - carved pumpkins, cobwebs, black candelabra and, most important, lots of candy.  Delegate Maggie McIntosh and Delegate Mary Washington were there, handing out treats (sugar-free and gluten free included), greeting neighbors and posing with every witch, dragon and super hero that came through the door.

There's really something very special that happens when officials are able to suspend the very serious nature of the work we elected them to do, and just embrace the spirit of a celebration like Halloween.  My family appreciated the opportunity to visit the District Office and see our Delegates in a relaxed setting. My granddaughter in particular loved that Maggie and Mary were willing to strike a fun pose with her.

This is the first time in recent history, if ever, that Halloween has been celebrated in this way by our delegates.  Let's encourage them to do it again in 2012.  In the meantime, consider stopping by the district office the next time you visit the Saturday Waverly Farmer's Market.  The door is certain to be open and there's probably some candy left over!

Halloween on Barclay Street

Just a sliver of moon brightened the dark night. But off in the distance shined a very bright light.

As we approached from the north we thought we spied three.  But no, once we landed, it was just two that we see.

Delegates McIntosh and Washington dressed up for the night, were handing out candy, first to the left and then to the right.

As we waited our turn we marveled at how great, it was to see our Delegates handing out cheer even this late.

The 43rd office was dressed in carved pumpkins and black cats.  The only thing missing were big pointy hats.

Our Delegates are the best that Maryland has to offer.  And it's not just because they have candy in the coffers.

They are dedicated, thinking, visionary and smart.  Neither is afraid to speakup for us, from the heart.

Our Delegates are super, and they know how to have fun.  Thank you Maggie and Mary for being the great ones!
