Baltimore 3rd Worst Dressed

Travel + Leisure suggests Baltimore may need to shop for some sharper threads.

In the words of rapper Dizzy Rascal it’s time to fix up and look sharp, Baltimore.

Travel + Leisure magazine named Charm City the third worst dressed city in the nation.

Baltimore was only bested by the sartorial standouts of Anchorage and Salt Lake City—a deep wound to the urban center of this deep blue state.

But to be honest, the magazine doesn’t really give too much of a reason for cracking on our style beyond “it’s a quirky city; so they dress odd.”

It also addresses the “Hon” style, which you only see during one weekend a year during a certain festival.

Do you think Baltimore is poorly dressed? Tell us in comments.

I think the poll results came from visitors to the cities.

It was by readers' votes, but it's the publication's poll. So I give the (dis)credit to Travel + Leisure.

Sound good, Adam. You beat me to this story. It was the topic of my next blog. Back to the drawing board.

I have lived here my entire life, but have travelled to many of the country's major cities over the years. I think that - for the most part, and understandably - it's a reflection of any city's demographics and varies by socio-economic strata. Baltimore seems to place near the top in many of the "bad" rankings... violence, drugs, teenage pregnancy, etc. While there are plenty of affluent, very well dressed people in Baltimore City, there are far more who obviously either don't have a clue and/or don't have the means to look remotely presentable.
