'Baltimore Brew': Hampden Couple Rescues Hawk

A young red-shouldered hawk was rescued near University Parkway.

According to the Baltimore Brew, a Hampden couple discovered a young red-shouldered hawk on Thursday evening near University Parkway.

There had been sightings of a family of hawks in a nearby tree. Matt and Andrea Masachi were out for a walk when they discovered the young bird in the street, barely avoiding traffic.

They rescued the hawk from the street and took it to the Phoenix Wildlife Center, Inc. in Phoenix, MD, where the bird is now being cared for.
