Baltimore Police Reassign Top Spokesman

(UPDATED 1:21 p.m.)—Anthony Guglielmi, the Baltimore Police Department's top spokesman, has been reassigned after comments he made were interpreted by some officials as being dismissive of a recent spate of violence, according to The Baltimore Sun.

Guglielmi told the newspaper: "we’re pretty satisfied with the way the city is headed, violence-wise” following a weekend where 18 people were shot.

Councilman Carl Stokes, who represents Remington and parts of Charles Village, criticized the comments during Monday's council meeting.

The announcement of the reassignment came on the same day Police Commissioner Anthony Batts appeared before a City Council committee to address the outbreak of shootings since last weekend.
