Councilman Mosby's Health Initiatives Earn White House Visit

Councilman Nick Mosby, who represents Woodberry, Medfield and parts of Hampden in North Baltimore, is scheduled to attend a White House celebration of the Let’s Move! Cities, Towns and Counties Program.

The program, which asks elected officials to come up with strategies to increase residents’ access to healthy food and exercise opportunities, will be honored on Wednesday, and the reception will be hosted by First Lady Michelle Obama, according to a news release from Mosby’s office.

"The League of Cities appreciates the support and energy of the First Lady for her tireless efforts to reduce the obesity epidemic facing our communities," National League of Cities' Executive Director Clarence Anthony said in a news release. "We congratulate all the local elected officials who participated in the event and are playing an instrumental role in providing our nation's children with a healthier future. When children grow up in cities, towns and counties that promote healthy development, they become productive and healthy adults, contributing to the prosperity of our communities."
