Five Things to Know About North Baltimore

Things you should know are going on in your neck of the woods.

This is a free annual event designed to help Baltimore-area residents and workers with financial services such as tax preparation, credit reports and housing counseling. The event is being held at Poly-Western High School, 1400 Cold Spring Lane, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday.

The Greater Homewood Community Corporation is hosting its annual Neighborhood Institute. The event aims to educate community leaders through panels and workshops that are intended to build stronger neighborhoods. The event is at Govans Presbyterian Church, 5828 York Road, at 10 a.m. on Saturday.

Alright, it's not quite the same as having the Orioles open the season in Charm City. Nonetheless, it's the first game of the season. The birds take on the Tampa Bay Rays at 7 p.m. Friday. MASN will broadcast the game on television and on the radio at WBAL 1090 AM.

This concert will feature Conductor Vladimir Lande and will be a chamber concert. It will be performed in the SDS room of the Mattin Center at 3 p.m. on Sunday.

5.) The Weather

It's been dreary and bone-chillingly cold for most of the week. Luckily we're expected to see some sun on Saturday and Sunday with high temperatures creeping up into the mid-50 degree range. You better take advantage of it because it looks like rain will dominate the early part of the next work week.
