Free State Review Launches 'Starts Here' Reading Series

The new reading series will be held at The Ivy Bookshop in Mt. Washington.

The literary magazine Free State Review and The Ivy Bookshop will co-curate a new reading series featuring writers of different genres from the Baltimore area.

The first "Starts Here" reading is scheduled for 7 p.m., June 27 at The Ivy Bookshop, 6080 Falls Road, and will feature writers P.M. Rooney, Archana Prasanna and Samuel Alexander Zervitz, according to the store’s website.

"I think our goal is obviously to get good literature out in front of people," said Jessica Dotson, the Free State Review’s art and design editor.

The Free State Review is set to release its second volume of work, from primarily new and local writers, this year and hopes the event will provide the publication with more exposure.  The magazine’s first volume was published in February.

"We’re definitely excited about The Ivy Bookshop collaboration and how that helps reach an audience," Dotson, a Hampden resident, said.
