Why Go:

The Scrabble Party is an inventive way to help raise money for Greater Homewood Community Corporation's Adult Literacy and English for Speakers of Other Languages programs. The event will feature two rounds of Scrabble, live music and a silent auction. 

Pricing:

$50 for adults; $40 for students and seniors more than 62 years old

850 W. 36th Street, Wednesday through Friday dinner starts at 5 p.m. On Saturday and Sunday, brunch is served at 11 a.m.

Why Go:

Corner BYOB is one of the newest restaurants to open on Hampden's 36th Street. Patch restaurant reviewer Olga Maltseva wrote "But make no mistakes: this is cooking of the finest variety, right in our midst. For Corner BYOB, the art is in the food."

According to the restaurant's website, entrees range from $18 to $26.

Why Go:

A chance to check out some talented designers and models while supporting Loyola University's Black Student Association. Tickets for the event also include refreshments during the show and dinner after.

Why Go:

Dr. Ernest Ragogini, a music professor at the college, will be performing pieces by Beethoven, Berg, Mozart and Schumann.

5. Punk Super Group Off! Play Baltimore

Where/When:

The Ottobar, 2549 N. Howard St., Baltimore, Friday; doors open at  8 p.m.

Why Go:

Off! features West Coast hardcore/punk legends Keith Morris ( Black Flag/Circle Jerks), Dimitri Coats (Burning Brides), Steven McDonald (Red Kross) and Mario Rubalcaba (Hot Snakes/Rocket from the Crypt). Influential music website Pitchforkmedia.com  recently added a collection of the group's first four EPs to its Best New Music list.
