Hampden Gets Bazaar of the Bizarre

Exclusive gifts in the retail category of the weird and creepy.

Finally a shop to meet your shrunken head, funeral sign and taxidermy needs.

Bazaar Curiosities & Oddities, 3534 Chestnut Ave., will celebrate its grand opening on Friday.

"[We sell] anything odd and quirky," said Greg Hatem, the store's co-owner.

Most of the merchandise on sale so far has come from Hatem, along with co-owner Brian Henry's private collections, items bought from friends or were found on the Internet. Hatem added a new round of merchandise was scheduled to arrive shortly—including a human skull.

Hatem said he and Henry decided to open the store simply because "it was the right time."

But who would want many of these items?

"Gifts for the oddballs in your family," Hatem said with a laugh.

The shop is open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday, 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday and noon to 5 p.m. on Sunday.
