Highlights from Tonight's Baltimore City Council Meeting

A quick look at some of the more interesting items on the agenda.

Here's a look at some of the items on the Baltimore City Council's agenda for this evening. 

The council will hold its regular meeting at 5 p.m. at City Hall.

Among the issues that will be discussed is a bill that would allow for certain animal licences to be denied or revoked if the licensee or applicant, or someone connected to the licensee or applicant, has been convicted of animal abuse, cruelty or neglect. The bill is sponsored by Councilman James Kraft, D-District 1, and Councilman Robert Curran, D-District 3.

Councilman Carl Stokes, D-District 12, has proposed a charter amendment that would put a limit on city property taxes and create a continuing, non-lapsing fund to be used for property tax reduction. The amendment would have to be approved by Baltimore City voters. Stokes also has proposed legislation to modify the Homestead Tax Credit percentage for certain taxable years. 

Council President Bernard "Jack" Young has introduced a resolution to declare Tuesday Clarence M. Mitchell Jr. Day in Baltimore, the 100th anniversary of his birth.
