North Baltimore Patch's Stories of the Week

Check out what happened at North Baltimore's Patch this week.

On Monday we reported on a rather bizarre note left in a park in northern Charles Village. The note, which was posted on a tree, advised whoever stole a table and chairs from the park that they didn't get away unseen.

Also on Monday, Mount Washington resident Harold Shapiro was recognized by the Baltimore City Council for his service in World War II. Shapiro was earlier awarded France’s Legion of Honor Award as part of the 67th anniversary of the D-Day invasion.

During a meeting with Mount Washington residents Tuesday night, Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake said the perception that she’s more focused on development downtown than in Baltimore’s neighborhoods is a media creation.

“The media is fixated on downtown. I’m not fixated on downtown,” Rawlings-Blake said.

It was announced on Wednesday that Ross Buzzuro, commander of the Baltimore City Police Department's Northern District, was promoted to lieutenant colonel and would be taking over as a patrol area commander. Sabrina Tap-Harper was promoted to the rank of major and will take over command of the Northern District.
