You Tell Us: Readers Sound Off on Grand Prix

We wanted to know if readers thought the Baltimore Grand Prix will be a boon or bust for Baltimore?

Reader Comments:

I'm sure there will be some kind of economic boost from the race if the estimated crowd turns out to be anywhere near 100,000. But the impact will be short lived and it will have no positive effect on the overall welfare of our city, which, as of now, is not good.

it will be interesting to see if the drivers can avoid being mugged or the cars slipping on the urine on the streets!

I do not believe the income will offset damage done to Trees, the impression we are giving our tourist right now (It's ugly and difficult to get around Grand Stands) and the over all inconvenience of the tax base for the city.....the people who live here. FAIL.

Mother Earth is suffering a crisis directly related to the Pentagon's war machine. The Pentagon is the institution most responsible for climate chaos, and must be challenged. Bill Mckibben tells us the Earth has changed, and we will never see that planet again. I will be in D.C. on August 20 protesting at the White House as part of 350.org. We all must do our utmost to save the planet. The Grand Prix contributes to climate chaos, as it wastefully burns petrol. Let the City instead support a solar-propelled vehicle rally.

Nora Rich Done right, it will be a great boost.

Jen Jackson Yuck. This is going to bring a bunch of pollution & a lot of trash to clean up after... oh right but its going to bring tourism right?
