Art in the Round

An eclectic exhibit of paintings, drawings, watercolors, sculptures, and ceramics – all created by artists with intellectual and developmental disabilities – will be on display when The Arc Baltimore holds its 12th Annual Art in the Round exhibit and auction.

To take place on Friday, November 8, 7-10:30 p.m., at a new, larger location – the Scottish Rite Masonic Center (3800 N. Charles Street in Baltimore) – Art in the Round “showcases the talent and artistry of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities,” says The Arc Baltimore Executive Director Stephen H. Morgan.

Guests at Art in the Round enjoy music and a veritable feast of hors d'oeuvres, desserts, beer, and wine – all while bidding on their favorite piece of artwork.

The artwork exhibited at Art in the Round is chosen by a selection committee of art enthusiasts from more than 200 pieces submitted each year. Featured artists receive 60 percent of the winning bid for each piece of art sold. In addition, The Arc Baltimore presents a financial award to the artist whose work is chosen to be used for next year’s Art in the Round promotional poster.

Morgan notes that proceeds from Art in the Round “help to fund future art programs, classes, workshops, and training programs for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.”
