Author Richard Guerry to Discuss Family Digital Safety at Gilman on 3/11

Richard Guerry, author of Public & Permanent: The Golden Rule of

the 21st Century
, will speak at Gilman School on Tuesday, March

11, 2014, at 7 p.m. in the Alumni Memorial Auditorium. This event is open to

Gilman School parents, faculty, and adult community members.


Guerry’s lecture, entitled “Public & Permanent: Prevent

Sexting, Cyber Bullying and Beyond,” aims to raise awareness about negative, irresponsible, and malicious digital behaviors and trends, and provide methods for
youth to reduce the risk of becoming victims of online crimes.  

While at Gilman, Guerry will also discuss responsible online
behavior and use of social media with Middle School students.

The founder and executive director of the nonprofit Institute

for Responsible Online and Cell-Phone Communication, Guerry is a noted

speaker who has presented at the National Conference on Child Sexual Abuse and
Exploitation Prevention, the International Bullying Prevention Association and
the National Symposium on Child Abuse. He has also appeared as an expert on CNN
and in other national and international news outlets.
