Baltimore’s premier black tie gala/dance competition
will return by popular demand! With ABC2 News Anchor Jamie
Costello returning as emcee, the evening will feature a cocktail
reception, full-course gourmet dinner, dancing to live music by Highway
Star and a showcase of local ballroom and Latin talent.
The event’s highlight, the “Dancing Stars” competition, will
take place among individuals and couples chosen for their leadership in
the community and their support of the Alzheimer’s Association. Many of
them also have personal connections to Alzheimer’s disease.
The Dancing Stars will perform before a panel of judges
that includes Maryland First Lady Katie O'Malley, Debbie
Phelps(director, Baltimore County Public Schools Foundation),Memory
Ball 2013 Fundraising Champion Jane Sewell (executive
director, Union Mills Homestead Foundation), Stan Stovall(news
anchor, Baltimore WBAL-TV 11), and Vincent M.
Lancisi(artistic director, Everyman Theatre).
They will vie to win the Judge’s
Choice Trophy for the best technical skill and the You’re
Our Star Trophy for raising the most money for the
Alzheimer’s Association. Dancers can earn votes online at www.alz.org/maryland before the event and by the
audience at the Ball: $1/vote.

Event co-chairs are Susan Boltansky Mann (long-time
Memory Ball committee member and community volunteer with a family
connection to Alzheimer’s disease) and Deborah Gisriel
Bittar, M.D. (pediatrician with Main Street Pediatrics, whose mother suffers
from Alzheimer's disease).
Proceeds will benefit the Alzheimer’s Association’s many
programs and services, as well as raise awareness of Alzheimer’s disease
and related disorders, which now affect more than 86,000 people in
Maryland.
