At about 8 a.m., Friday Katie Gore sat in front of chatting with two riders making their commute via bike.
Gore, an employee at the shop and Bike Maryland, said about six of 25 people who had registered for Bike to Work Day had passed by the shop, which was listed as a participating location. The Baltimore Metropolitan Council sponsored 18 separate Bike to Work events throughout the Baltimore area.
"We’re usually pretty light because we’re so far out [from downtown]," Gore said. "But we get the best people."
Bike to Work Day is an annual event held to promote cycling as an environmentally friendly and healthy way to commute.
Stephen Nichols, of Towson, who works at the , said he’s been participating in Bike to Work Day for about three years.
"It’s not that far. I don’t do a lot of bike riding but it seem doable," Nichols said.
