JH-U-Turns Trash to Cash
The event sells items to residents that students not longer want and the proceeds go to the Johns Hopkins Neighborhood Fund.
The JH-U-Turn event will again give North Baltimore residents the chance to buy what a biology major couldn’t take home.
On Saturday, starting at 8 a.m., at the Ralph S. O’Connor Recreation Center, Johns Hopkins University is scheduled to hold the third annual event, which is basically a large garage sale of things students no longer wanted or couldn't take home.
Funds from the event will go to the Johns Hopkins Neighborhood Fund, which provides grants to area nonprofits and the United Way of Central Maryland.

Previously the event has raised around $6,000.
The JH-U-Turn is the brainchild of , the university’s community liaison. She based the Hopkins program on a similar event at Dickinson College.
