Sell Now, Baltimore Homeowners

Real estate website Trulia has determined that early spring is the best time of year to sell your house locally.

March and April are the best months of the year to sell your house in the Baltimore area.

According to the real estate website Trulia, which Patch discovered through an Atlantic Cities post, early spring brings buyers, and home prices in Maryland peak during those months.

In surrounding states such as Pennsylvania, Delaware and Virginia, home sales pick up in May.

So if you're looking to sell your house, put it on the market soon. The website says that December is generally the worst time of year to sell no matter where you live.

What a surprise! The spring is the best time to put your house on the market, and December is normally not a good time to put a house on the market. This is hardly news, but the implication in the piece is that real estate has improved so much that we should jump into old habits as soon as possible. Foreclosure remains on the rise and so putting your house on the market just now may actually not be the best time, depending on personal circumstances. Over all, I would hope that citizens have taken one thing from the last 3 or 4 years: that the professionals in real estate and finance do not always have the best interest of a community at heart.
